Very interesting, Qwen3.8 27B when?
Looking very promising! Any plans for a Qwen3.8 27B version?
Thanks you, It’s definitely possible, but I’m not sure 27B is the best target for this kind of experiment. Qwen3.8-27B is already a very strong model, so a relatively simple intervention like mine may have much less headroom, while requiring a lot more compute and time to train properly.
My guess is that the 0.6B–4B range is where this idea has the best chance of producing noticeable gains.
I’ve experimented with the same recipe on the 35B-A3B MoE; while there were improvements, it doesn't seem to scale very easily. Even building a small reader like mine for the 27B model requires a lot of compute power, I’m currently working on very limited resources, using the free tier on Kaggle notebooks (Nvidia T4).
The next target will likely be a v2 of the 0.8B model I use for experimentation (allowing for faster iterations), which I’ll then replicate on the 2B and 4B versions.
Maybe with the release of Qwen 4 might bring us a 27B model with n-grams?
